Unable to Download Packages

Hello,



I've been trying to download PEAR packages with no success. For instance,
the link http://download.pear.php.net/package/Net_SMTP-1.2.10.tgz would
download a corrupt .tar file on one PC, and would result in displaying the
below Network Access Message page from another PC.

Network Access Message: The page cannot be displayed











Explanation: There is a problem with the page you are trying to reach and it
cannot be displayed.

Try the following:

* Refresh page: Search for the page again by clicking the Refresh
button. The timeout may have occurred due to Internet congestion.
* Check spelling: Check that you typed the Web page address correctly.
The address may have been mistyped.
* Access from a link: If there is a link to the page you are looking
for, try accessing the page from that link.

If you are still not able to view the requested page, try contacting your
administrator or Helpdesk.

* Error Code: 502 Proxy Error. Not implemented (-2147467263)
* IP Address: 216.92.131.66

Are you behind some odd proxy ?
This works on all computers I've tested, even some that are behind a company
proxy.

Hi,



I am in Dubai, UAE. Only one ISP for the whole country and, of course, one
odd proxy for filtering the traffic… well I guess that could be it.



Anyway, I manually modified the extensions of the files in the links that I
need to download – for no relevant reason I entered .tar instead of .tgz
(see below) and it worked!

http://download.pear.php.net/package/Net_SMTP-1.2.10.tgz

http://download.pear.php.net/package/Net_SMTP-1.2.10.tar
